[01-31-2022] Angelina County, TX – 7 People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Lufkin

Seven people, three of which are children, were injured in a five-vehicle crash on Loop 287 on Monday, January 31, 2022.

The multi-vehicle collision happened on a Monday morning on South Loop 287 and John Reddit Drive near Copeland in Lufkin.

Officials said five vehicles were involved, including an 18-wheeler.

The 18-wheeler driver appeared to have had some sort of medical emergency, said Ted Lovett, Battalion Chief of the Lufkin Fire Department.

Seven people were taken to area hospitals by ambulance, but none of them were in serious condition; three of the injured were children.

Northbound lanes were closed at Copeland.

As an alternative route around the closed areas, motorists were advised to take Hank Street through the neighborhood.

There are no other details available. The crash remains under investigation.
