One man was killed while another person was injured after a major two-vehicle DUI crash on SH 249 on Friday afternoon, September 3.
According to the initial reports from local authorities, the accident took place in the 11600 block of State Highway 249 at around 12:50 p.m. A southbound pickup truck was traveling at high speeds and failed to maintain a single lane.
The pickup then veered into the northbound lanes and struck a Chevrolet Trailblazer that was stopped at a red light. A passenger inside the Chevrolet was fatally injured in the accident. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the female Chevrolet driver was rushed to an area hospital with serious injuries. Authorities later determined that the pickup truck driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The pickup truck driver was identified as Donovan G. was arrested for several charges, including driving while intoxicated, manslaughter, and aggravated assault. The accident is currently under further investigation.
