A 17-year-old boy identified as Julio Jesus Lerma M. was killed after a fatal two-vehicle collision in north Laredo on Saturday morning, September 11.
The fatal collision took place on International Boulevard near Santiago Drive in Laredo at approximately 1:40 a.m. A southbound white Dodge Ram truck and a southbound tan Lexus collided on the roadway under unclear circumstances. How the collision occurred, and the reason it happened has not been established.
Six teens were involved in the collision. All five occupants of the Ram were 17-year-old males, while the sole occupant of the Lexus was an 18-year-old man. Unfortunately, the 17-year-old Dodge driver was fatally injured in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another passenger inside the Dodge was seriously injured. He was airlifted to San Antonio to receive treatment. Other people sustained minor to moderate injuries and were also taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The identities of the other involved parties have not been disclosed. Local authorities are further investigating the cause of the collision.
