Three children were injured after a multi-vehicle traffic collision in Houston on Saturday afternoon, October 9.
The major collision transpired at approximately 3:55 p.m. on Highway 59 at Chimney Rock in Houston. A Honda was driving in and out of the highway’s southbound lanes then crashed into an 18-wheeler. The Honda then kept traveling then struck a red Mercedes before hitting a box truck.
After the Honda hit the box truck, a 5-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle. She sustained severe injuries and was rushed to an area hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Two other children were also injured in the mishap.
They were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities later determined that the Honda driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.
The Honda driver was then arrested and charged with intoxication assault. It’s unclear how the driver is related to the children. A further investigation of the crash is currently underway.
