DUI Crash Statistics
The suspect bears full responsibility because the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the accident occurred. One of the most reckless and dangerous things a driver can do is drive while impaired by drugs or alcohol. Drunk drivers are a danger to other people and themselves.
In the fight against drunk driving, Texas and the United States have come a long way, but there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to decrease the number of DUI-related deaths across the country significantly. NHTSA estimates that approximately 10,000 people are killed each year as a result of drunk drivers.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were 812 people killed in Texas DUI crashes in 2019 alone. Considering these facts, it’s clear that drinking and driving aren’t worth it. Drivers who are intoxicated and drive run the risk of causing significant damage or even death to other people. Your family and job may suffer even if no one is hurt in the collision or if you are jailed for DUI.
