A 23-year-old man, whose name has yet to be disclosed, was killed in an unfortunate accident while checking on crash victims on I-35 on October 16, Saturday.
The initial collision happened around 3:00 a.m. on I-35E, near Commonwealth Drive, when 21-year-old Victoria Garner – C., lost control of her white Mazda. Council’s Mazda then returned to traffic, where it was slammed into by a Kia.
That’s when the unidentified 23-year-old man pulled up in a gold Chevrolet Suburban to check on the victims when shortly afterward, he and the Kia were both struck by an oncoming car. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Council, having initiated the unfortunate chain of events by losing control and colliding, was arrested for driving under the influence, while the driver who hit the 23-year-old victim was not arrested and is not expected to face any charges. The interstate was closed down for a three-hour period while the incident was investigated by local authorities.
