An unidentified 25-year-old man sustained injuries across North Side street on Wednesday, October 27.
The accident occurred around 7:20 p.m. in the 2000 block of Vance Jackson Road, north of Interstate 10. According to the police, a Chrysler 200 traveling northbound struck the victim while he was crossing the rod from east to west and not in a crosswalk.
The car had swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting the victim but was unable to do so as the man continued running across the street, police said. The driver of the Chrysler stopped to help the victim. The victim suffered multiple fractures. The 25-year-old victim was then transported to University Hospital and is now in stable condition.
The victim was wearing dark clothing, and the streetlights were not switched on at the time of the accident, according to police reports. No charges are pending, and local authorities are still investigating the accident.

The number of pedestrian fatalities in Texas increased dramatically between 2010 and 2016, rising from 273 in 2010 to 1,238 in 2016. Over the last two decades, the number of pedestrian deaths has nearly doubled.
In 2019, there were 5,975 pedestrian-related traffic crashes in Texas, resulting in 669 deaths, up 5% from the previous year. As a result of the explosion, 1,317 people were critically injured.
