[12-16-2021] Travis County, TX – Five People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 183

Five people sustained serious injuries as a result of a multi-vehicle crash in southern Travis County on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

According to the Austin-Travis County EMS medics, the multi-vehicle collision transpired at approximately 7:00 a.m. near Maha Loop Road, just north of the interchange with SH 45 and SH 130.

Three vehicles and five people were reportedly involved in the accident. Three of the people were immediately declared trauma alerts, and two of them had to be cut out.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, this section of U.S. 183 was closed due to the accident.

A teenager was flown to Dell Seton Medical Center by StarFlight with life-threatening injuries, and two other adults were taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center by ambulance. One suffered life-threatening injuries, while the other sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Two young children were also taken to Dell Children’s Hospital with minor injuries, according to ATCEMS.
