[12-18-2021] Wilson County, TX – Two People Killed, Another Injured in Fiery Two-Vehicle Crash in La Vernia

Two people identified as Jordan W. and Kenneth B. were killed, while another person was critically injured after a two-vehicle crash in La Vernia on Saturday, December 18, 2021.

The collision happened around 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 361.

According to preliminary reports, a vehicle traveling eastbound on US Highway 87 West collided with a car traveling westbound near the intersection of County Road 361.

The vehicle heading east on 87 hydroplaned and veered into oncoming traffic, according to witness statements. The collision had caused both cars to burst into flames.

The injured man was airlifted to Brooke Army Medical Center, where his condition is listed as critical but stable.

The crash was responded to by the La Vernia Police Department, Wilson County District 1 Fire and Rescue, Wilson County District 3 EMS, Bexar County District 12 Fire Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Officers believe the weather played a role in the accident. An investigation is currently underway.
