According to San Antonio police, a driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault after a woman was killed and several others were injured in a crash on the NW Side on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
The fatal multi-vehicle crash occurred on a Saturday evening at Culebra Road and Zarzamora Street.
Police reports revealed a red Dodge truck was driving east on Culebra when it ran a red light and collided with the passenger side of a green-light Chevrolet truck.
According to SAPD, the impact sent the Chevrolet through the intersection and into a Jeep Patriot parked in the right northbound lane of N. Zarzamora Street.
A 53-year-old woman in the Chevrolet’s back right passenger seat died as a result of her injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Three other people inside the Chevrolet were seriously injured and were taken to University Hospital.
The driver being charged is identified as Edwin Sanabna P.
According to police, one person in the Jeep was taken to Brooke Army Medical Center with serious injuries, while the driver of the Dodge was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.
