Two unidentified men were injured after fireworks were set off in the road before they were hit by a truck in San Antonio on Saturday, January 1, 2022.
The incident occurred at 12:16 a.m. in the 600 block of S. San Eduardo.
Two men were lighting fireworks in the road when they were struck by a Toyota Sequoia traveling northbound, according to police.
According to officials, the Toyota continued northbound after the accident, away from the scene.
One of the men was seriously injured, while the other was only slightly hurt. EMS took both to University Hospital for further treatment, according to police.
The Toyota was later found a block away from the scene of the accident, but the driver remains at large.
The driver will be charged with failure to stop and render aid-SBI and failure to stop and render aid-moving when arrested, according to police.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
