A 77-year-old woman from East Texas identified as Diann S. was killed in a wrong-way, head-on collision with an 18-wheeler on US Highway 59 on Tuesday night, January 4, 2022.
The fatal two-vehicle crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. on US Highway 59 north of Marshall.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety report, the 77-year-old woman was traveling on the wrong side of the roadway heading south. The truck was traveling in the opposite direction.
The 18-wheeler attempted to take evasive action and swerved to the left, according to the police report.
The truck, however, collided with the front of the woman’s vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lazaro A., a 26-year-old Spring native, was identified as the 18-wheeler’s driver. He was not hurt in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
