Two unidentified people are in critical condition after a horrific two-vehicle crash that was captured on a home surveillance system in the area of Forest Elms Drive on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
The collision occurred around 5:30 p.m. in the Cypresswood subdivision’s 18500 block of Forest Elms Drive.
According to witnesses, an SUV was speeding down Blue Lake Drive at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour when it collided with a sedan. The sedan’s driver lost control as a result of the impact and collided with a parked flatbed trailer.
The Spring Fire Department firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue tools to cut both occupants out of the sedan. Harris County ESD 11 Mobile Healthcare transported the two occupants of the sedan to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, where they are listed in critical condition.
The suspect identified as Oscar M. intentionally struck the sedan, according to sources, in what appears to have been a domestic incident. According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect driving the SUV is the husband of the female driver who was critically injured.
According to Thomas Gilliland of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, one count of aggravated assault on a family member and one count of aggravated assault on the male passenger are pending charges against the suspect.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted the charges. The suspect is accused of committing two felonies: aggravated assault on a family member and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (vehicle). The amount of his bond was set at $60,000.00. He is still being held in the Harris County Jail.
