At least one person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 31E in Smith County on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
The three-vehicle crash happened just before midnight on Highway 31 E., between County Road 233 (Jernigan Rd.) and Wildwood Dr., about a mile east of the Jackson Heights Fire Department, according to CBS19 crews on the scene.
A helicopter and at least three ambulances were seen leaving the scene by CBS19 reporters.
While the Texas Department of Public Safety investigated the crash, a portion of Highway 31 E. was closed. Since then, the area has been cleared.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
