Authorities say a 65-year-old Victoria man identified as Arnold S. was killed on Thursday after driving the wrong way head-on collision on a Victoria County highway on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
The fatal two-vehicle crash happened at about 7:46 p.m. on U.S. 87 near the unincorporated community of Guadalupe.
According to Sgt. Ruban San Miguel of the Texas Department of Public Safety, a northbound 2000 GMC SUV driven by Sanchez, was traveling on the wrong side of the divided highway.
The other vehicle, a 2019 Toyota, was traveling south when it collided with the SUV’s front-left bumper.
37-year-old Christine S. was in the front passenger seat, and 17-year-old Kaylee M. of Port Lavaca was driving. Two children, ages 7 and 6, were seated in the back seat.
According to authorities, Saenz, McCaskill, and the two children, who were not identified due to their ages, were all taken to Citizens Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
As authorities worked on the scene, the northbound portion of the highway was closed for about three hours.
As of Friday, San Miguel said the investigation into the crash was still ongoing.
