A 17-year-old Tyler girl identified as Lillian T. was killed in a car accident on South Broadway Avenue on Friday, January 14, 2022.
According to the Tyler Police Department, the fatal crash happened around 10:50 p.m. in the area of 2800 block of South Broadway Avenue.
Officers were dispatched to the crash scene after receiving a complaint of a two-vehicle traffic wreck.
A black Chevy Silverado driven by 24-year-old Jason C. of Tyler collided with the rear of a white Dodge Ram driven by the 17-year-old teen, according to police.
Both of the automobiles were heading north. The white Dodge Ram rolled and collided with a tree as a result of this.
The teen was carried by ambulance to UT Health, where she died on Sunday, January 16, from her injuries, according to police.
The 24-year-old driver was arrested and placed into the Smith County Jail for Intoxicated Assault after being brought to UT Health by EMS. A $200,000 bond has been set for him.
Tyler Police detectives and accident investigators are investigating the situation.
Due to the victim’s death, charges of intoxicated manslaughter are now pending.
