[01-15-2022] Anderson County, TX – 41-Year-Old Woman Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident in Palestine

41-year-old Kandy S. of Palestine was struck and killed by a car at the intersection of South Loop 256 and Old Elkhart Road on Saturday night, January 15, 2022.

The pedestrian accident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Loop 256 and Old Elkhart Road, according to the Palestine Police Department.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Colby G., 30, of Palestine, was eventually identified as the culprit who fled the area shortly after the incident.

Later that evening, the Texas Department of Public Safety told Palestine police that a car matching Gholston’s description had wrecked on State Highway 84 east of Palestine.

When Palestine investigators arrived at the scene, they were able to identify the truck as the identical one that had struck the deceased victim.

Gholston was arrested and sent to the Anderson County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Gholston was then arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter, with a $1 million bond.
