[01-21-2022] Tarrant County, TX – One Person Severely Burned in Parking Garage Near UT Arlington

One man was critically injured after a fire in a parking garage near the University of Texas at Arlington campus on Friday, January 21, 2022.

The fire broke out around 4:00 a.m. on one of the upper floors of a parking garage for an apartment complex unrelated to the university.

Some residents reported hearing gunshots or fireworks and dialed 911. As it turned out, several cars were actually on fire.

Residents said they were forced to flee their homes while firefighters battled the blaze.

A man with severe burns was taken to the hospital. He’s in critical condition, according to reports.

There is still no word on what started the fire or what the man was doing when it started.

After the fire was put out, everyone was allowed to return home.

The incident remains under investigation.
