One 18-year-old teen identified as Iliana V. was killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in San Marcos on Monday, January 3.
It happened around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of I-35 and Wonder World Drive.
A silver Mazda and a large box truck collided where the ramp meets I-35’s northbound lanes, according to San Marcos Police Department investigators.
The 18-year-old Houston woman was the Mazda’s driver and died at the scene. According to police, the box truck did not stop and continued northbound.
According to surveillance photos taken after the crash, the truck has a white box with yellow on the bottom half of the doors and front fenders. The truck’s hood, roof, upper doors, and box are all white.
There are amber lights along the roofline of the truck’s cab, and there may be marker lights on the corners of the box.
On the truck’s driver’s side, there appears to be writing on the box just behind the door and writing or a shape just below the door handle. The truck has only two axles, and the back of the box is extremely overset in relation to the rear tires. The tires’ rims appear to be white.
