The Austin Police Department (APD) identified Oscar V. as the victim of an auto-pedestrian crash in the area of Research Boulevard on Sunday, January 23.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred around 1:50 a.m. at the 8000 block of Research Blvd. SB.
APD officers responded to the crash scene after receiving a report of an auto and pedestrian crash.
A gray Mercedes-Benz struck the pedestrian when he was outside his vehicle inspecting it after a previous collision.
The unknown driver fled the scene after hitting him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
