[01-31-2022] Bexar County, TX – Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Multiple Injuries at New Laredo Highway and Pitluk Avenue

A driver had to be extracted from his truck and taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle crash on the South Side Highway on Monday morning, January 31.

The multi-vehicle crash occurred just before 5:15 a.m. on New Laredo Highway and Pitluk Avenue, just south of Southwest Military Drive.

A Dodge Ram truck was traveling south on New Laredo Highway when it sideswiped a Subaru hatchback traveling north, according to police.

The truck crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a big rig that didn’t have a trailer, almost head-on.

The Dodge’s driver, a man in his 40s, was pinned inside the truck and had to be extracted by SAFD.

He was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center in critical condition.

According to police, the driver of the big rig suffered minor injuries, while the passengers in the Subaru were unharmed.

The weather isn’t thought to have played a role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
