A kitchen fire ravaged a Texas City apartment complex leaving more than 20 families homeless on Sunday, January 30.
Firefighters were dispatched around 4:20 p.m. to the 8600 block of the Emmett F Lowry Expressway after receiving reports of a kitchen fire at the Savan Villas Apartment.
Crews arrived on the scene to find that the fire had quickly spread and consumed 12 units in one of the buildings.
The fire department claims that they were able to put out the flames, but a dozen more units were flooded in the process.
The American Red Cross was also on the scene, providing shelter and other essential services to those who had been displaced.
