A 48-year-old woman was killed in a head-on two-vehicle collision on State Highway 62 Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
According to the police, the fatal collision occurred at 11:30 p.m. on State Highway 62, a little more than a mile north of Orange.
The preliminary investigation showed that a 2017 Ford passenger car was heading south while a 2011 Ford passenger car was north.
The 2017 Ford went into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into the 2011 Ford for unknown reasons.
The driver of the 2017 Ford suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. She was later identified as 48-year-old Stephanie Smith.
The driver of the 2011 Ford was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition. No further details were provided.
An investigation is ongoing.
