One man died after a fiery multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Interstate 635 during heavy rain on Monday morning, April 25, 2022.
The fatal collision occurred at 1:00 a.m. on Interstate 635 near Plano Road.
A man driving a 2009 blue Honda Accord was involved in a single-car accident in the 10700 block of westbound LBJ Freeway, according to Dallas police.
The Accord was disabled in the left lane after the accident.
When a semi-truck was trying to pass another 18-wheeler collided with the Honda, the driver pulled to the right, causing both semi-trucks to collide with the concrete barrier.
After colliding with the Honda, the semi became separated from its trailer and caught fire. The second semi jackknifed and crashed into the barrier.
The driver of the Honda Accord was pronounced dead on the spot. As of this writing, no family members had been informed.
Rescuers had to close westbound LBJ near Lake Highlands for several hours Monday morning as they worked to put out the fire and clear the scene after the crash.
