[05-18-2022] Harris County, TX – Construction Worker Placing Safety Cones Fatally Struck by Vehicle on Beamer Road

A construction worker who was performing duties died after being struck by a motorist in southeast Houston Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022.

The fatal collision occurred at around 9:30 a.m in the 10600 block of Fuqua at Beamer.

A contract worker was placing safety cones around his trailer to block an eastbound lane of traffic, according to Houston police.

According to police, the driver of a Honda Odyssey van changed lanes to avoid the closure and struck the worker by accident.

According to witnesses, the victim may have been scared by the vehicle and jumped into the road. At the scene, he was pronounced dead.

After questioning, investigators determined that the uninjured driver was not impaired and released him.
