A Louisiana man was killed, and two Texans were seriously injured after a head-on collision in East Texas on Wednesday morning, January 5, 2022.
The two-vehicle crash transpired at approximately 8:45 a.m. on U.S. Highway 79, west of Carthage.
According to a Texas Department of Public Safety report, 31-year-old Aaron A. of Pineville, Louisiana, was driving westbound in a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette on U.S. Highway 79.
The driver from Louisiana passed a car on the two-lane road and collided head-on with a 2012 Ford F-250 traveling in the opposite direction.
According to the report, there was heavy fog on the highway at the time of the accident.
The 31-year-old man was declared dead on the spot.
Dale E., a 74-year-old Gary, Texas resident, was the driver of the Ford. Amanda D., a 61-year-old Gary native, was his passenger. They were both rushed to a Henderson hospital in critical condition.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
