According to Mansfield police, a truck struck and killed an unidentified man who attempted to cross a Mansfield highway Tuesday night, January 11.
The fatal pedestrian accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Farm Road 917 in Mansfield.
The truck driver told Mansfield police that he tried to avoid colliding with the man but was unable to do so.
Local authorities further stated that the man was struck while walking down the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident was believed to be an accident with no other contributing factors, according to police.
While police investigated the fatal crash, the road was closed for several hours.
As of Wednesday, authorities had not released the name of the man who died.
The accident remains under investigation.
