A seven-car crash resulted from a police chase that killed one person and injured five others in Houston on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
The fatal multi-vehicle crash happened on a Wednesday night in Northeast Houston.
A deputy was chasing an armed robbery suspect, but as he drove through an intersection, he collided with another car, killing the woman driving and sending two children, ages 5 and 2, to the hospital, according to police. The oldest is in serious trouble.
Following that, a series of other collisions occurred, sending three more people to the hospital.
The deputy’s car caught fire at one point, but he was rescued and is doing fine.
The deputy had his lights and sirens on as he passed through the intersection, according to police, and they’re still not sure how the accident happened.
The armed robbery suspect who sparked the chain of events eluded capture.
The crash remains under investigation.
