After a four-vehicle crash that seriously injured three drivers, officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety arrested an 18-year-old Fort Worth woman identified as Abrielle P. on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
The accident happened around 10:25 a.m. on Farm-to-Market Road 917 in Johnson County, about .08 miles from Maxey Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, a Chevrolet Tahoe was driving northeast on FM 917, followed by a Dodge Charger.
A Toyota Tacoma and a Jeep Gladiator were traveling southwest on FM 917.
According to DPS reports, the Tahoe’s driver, Payne, who was possibly intoxicated, veered into the southwest lane of travel and struck the Tacoma.
The Tahoe then crossed the southwest lane and collided with the Gladiator, which was parked on the shoulder.
According to reports, the impact of the Tahoe caused the Tacoma to veer into the northeast lane, where it was hit head-on by the Charger.
The Tacoma’s driver, Hector S., 50, of Fort Worth, and the Charger’s driver, Barbara B. 49, of Alvarado, were both seriously injured. According to reports, the Gladiator’s driver, Stanly L., 54, of Venus, was also injured.
All three were taken to different hospitals in the area by rescue workers. They have not been given any additional information about their conditions.
The 18-year-old teen was charged with three counts of intoxication assault and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle by officers.
Payne’s bonds were set at $20,000 by Johnson County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Robert Shaw on Friday.
Upon being transported to the Johnson County Jail and booked on her charges, Payne was treated at the scene by rescue workers.
Multi-Vehicle Crash Statistics
A car accident can happen to anyone at any time in Texas. Dallas and other Texas cities have seen a large number of fatal car accidents.
Aside from being one of the most populous state in the world, Texas is also home to the world’s largest road system. Because of the many congested roads, visitors flock to this area. More than 246,000 people have been injured, and more than 3,500 people have died as a result of traffic accidents in Texas. When a number of cars collided in this area, one person died as a result.
The term “multi-vehicle incidents” refers to collisions involving three or more vehicles. A “chain reaction” occurs when two vehicles collide, causing yet another accident.
