According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a van owned by a Lufkin funeral home and carrying a body was involved in a crash in northern Tyler County on Thursday afternoon, January 13, 2022.
It happened shortly after 2:00 p.m. just south of Colmesneil on U.S. Highway 69.
According to DPS Sergeant Shana Clark, a 2012 Dodge Caravan owned by Gipson Funeral Home, was traveling northbound behind a 2019 Ford pickup truck.
According to Clark, the pickup’s driver, Bradley G., 21, of Pollok, slowed to make a left turn.
Clark said the van’s driver, Kent C., 20, of Lufkin, swerved left just as the truck was turning left to avoid hitting the back of the truck, but the van collided with the truck’s front driver side quarter-panel.
