An unidentified man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on I-30 on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
The accident happened at approximately 8:46 p.m. on westbound Interstate 30 between St. Francis and Jim Miller Road.
Dallas Sheriff’s Deputies and Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the crash scene after receiving reports of a major accident.
According to investigators, a pedestrian dressed in dark clothing was crossing from the westbound to the eastbound side when a Jeep Liberty struck him. After striking the man, the driver of the Jeep came to a halt in the left lane.
A Nissan pickup swerved to the right to avoid a pedestrian lying in the road but then swerved back to the left, colliding with the Jeep. The occupants of both vehicles were not hurt.
Investigators believe the pedestrian had a walking disability because a broken walking cane was found near his body, according to a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson.
No positive identification has been made yet, and the body is in possession of the Medical Examiner’s office, which is working to identify him.
The driver of the Jeep is not expected to face any charges.
Local authorities are still investigating the accident.
