A 12-year-old girl survived a crash that killed two adults in northwest Harris County on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
The fatal two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 9:00 p.m. in the 10800 block of North Gessner at Loyal Pointe.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, 57-year-old Julia M. was driving a Toyota Corolla northbound on North Gessner with a 12-year-old girl in the front passenger seat, and a man identified as John W. was in the passenger’s side rear seat.
Wurts is thought to be between the ages of 25 and 30.
According to deputies, Moore attempted to turn left onto Windfern Road when a Dodge Ram 3500 licensed Harris County tow truck struck the Corolla’s passenger side.
According to deputies on the scene, the tow truck driver appeared to be speeding as he drove southbound on North Gessner.
Moore and Wurts were killed in the collision, according to deputies. In critical condition, the 12-year-old girl was flown to Memorial Hermann.
According to Lt. Simon Cheng, she eventually became conscious and cooperated with our investigator.
Deputies said the 29-year-old tow truck driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition. He was only slightly hurt.
According to Cheng, the 12-year-old girl told deputies that her grandmother was killed in the crash.
The man’s relationship with the other two victims was unknown.
According to investigators, the tow truck’s dashcam footage and scene evidence indicated that the driver was not going 40 mph. The driver did not appear to be inebriated.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
