45-year-old Sgt. Ramon G. of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was killed in a hit-and-run collision in the early hours of Monday, January 24.
The fatal collision happened in the early hours of Monday at 8900 E. Sam Houston Pkwy N near Tidwell.
According to Sheriff Gonzalez, Sgt. Gutierrez was conducting an off-duty motorcycle escort when he was struck by another car at the accident scene.
A heavy load was being escorted along the service road by Sgt. Gutierrez and others.
The deputy was airlifted to a local hospital by Life Flight, where he was pronounced dead at 1:25 a.m.
The driver, 40-year-old Lavillia S., did not stop after the collision but was later arrested.
She appeared to be intoxicated, according to reports.
Spry was charged with Manslaughter by Intoxication, Failure to Stop and Render Aid, and Evading.
