An unidentified woman is in critical condition after running a red light and colliding with the undercarriage of an 18-wheeler in Houston on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
The two-vehicle crash occurred around 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of S. Main and S. Sam Houston Parkway on Houston’s Southwest Side.
According to Houston Police, the woman ran a red light and collided with an oncoming FedEx 18-wheeler.
The woman’s car had become partially lodged beneath the semi-truck. The woman trapped inside the car had to be rescued using the Jaws of Life by firefighters.
The woman was released after 45 minutes, according to authorities.
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but she is expected to survive.
During the collision, the 18-wheeler driver was unharmed.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
