According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, 66-year-old Jesus G. Jr. of Shamrock was killed in a fatal accident that occurred in Carson County on Wednesday morning, January 26, 2022.
The two-vehicle occurred around 9:40 a.m. on I-40 in Carson County, about two miles west of Conway.
Eldred P., 37, of Northport, Alabama, was driving a 2019 Freightliner Truck tractor/semi-trailer eastbound on I-40, while Garcia was driving a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, according to a news release from the department.
Garcia was driving too fast for the lightly snow-packed road conditions, and he lost control of the vehicle. According to the press release, the vehicle slid sideways off the road, into the center median, and into the eastbound lanes, directly in front of the Freightliner.
Page used emergency braking on the Freightliner to avoid colliding with the Dodge Ram.
However, according to the press release, the vehicle was too close to react, striking the Dodge Ram on the right side. The Dodge Ram spun around and came to a halt against a guard rail on the south side of the highway.
According to officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash remains under investigation.
