An unidentified 17-year-old boy was struck while preparing to board a Cumby ISD school bus on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.
The pedestrian accident happened on a Wednesday morning at the FM 275 overpass on Interstate 30.
According to a Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office official, a Cumby ISD school bus was stopped at the FM 275 overpass on Interstate 30 to pick up passengers.
According to Hopkins County Chief Deputy Tanner Crump, a female driver disregarded the bus’ flashing lights and struck a student preparing to board the bus.
According to authorities, the student, who was only identified as a 17-year-old boy, was taken to Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs with non-life-threatening injuries.
Local authorities are still investigating the accident.
