A fire early Thursday morning in Kyle destroyed a downtown bar early Thursday morning, January 27, 2022.
The cause of the fire at Papa Jack’s, located at 108 W. Center Street in Kyle, is unknown. According to a city official, when crews arrived, smoke was billowing from an alley next to the building.
According to the Kyle Fire Department, the roof collapsed during the fire, which received the call at 1:50 a.m.
There have been no reported injuries. The bar is connected to another business, Jack’s Axes.
The fire has closed Center Street through downtown, according to the KFD.
KFD requested assistance from the Austin Fire Department because of a ladder truck that helps fight the flames from above, according to the Austin Fire Department.
Along with AFD, there were numerous agencies providing mutual aid at the fire. The fire was put out by crews from San Marcos, Buda, North and South Hays County, and Wimberley.
Volunteers from Hays County CERT, Kyle Police Department, and PEC all responded to the scene.
Because of the fire, Kyle City Hall will be closed.
Some employees expressed their grief in losing their jobs due to the fire.
According to the company’s website, one of the owners is Texas country singer Wade Bowen.
