A man is dead after the car he was driving caught fire after crashing into the back of an 18-wheeler along Southwest Freeway on Friday, January 28, 2022.

The fatal two-vehicle crash happened around 4:30 a.m. along Southwest Freeway near W. Bellfort Avenue on Houston’s Southwest Side.
Police said the driver was seen speeding when he changed lanes and slammed into the back of the big rig. The man was trapped inside the car when it caught fire.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 18-wheeler did stop. He was not injured in the accident.
The identities of the people involved have yet to be disclosed by the authorities.
The crash remains under investigation.
