A three-alarm structure fire west of Greenville was reported to have injured two people early Monday, January 31, 2022.
The fire was first reported at about 9:00 a.m. on County Road 2720, north of Caddo Mills.
Multiple fire departments and the Hunt County Fire Marshal’s Office were dispatched to the scene.
According to Hunt County Director of Emergency Management/Fire Marshal Richard Hill, the fire appeared to have started in an enclosed front porch of the residence.
The fire spread quickly, according to Hill.
Two medical units were sent to the scene. Hill said one of the home’s residents was taken to the Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville’s emergency room with possible smoke inhalation, and another received a laceration to one arm while escaping the fire and was transported by private vehicle.
According to Hill, for the first time since September 2019, Hunt County may be subject to an outdoor burning ban.
Hill said it will be on the Hunt County Commissioners’ agenda for their meeting on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, so they can consider it.
