Two Bertram residents were killed, and one 4-year-old boy was injured in a fatal collision near Bertram on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
The two-vehicle crash happened on a Saturday on Texas 29, about 2 miles east of Bertram.
The crash caused injuries to a 4-year-old boy, who was taken to Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Elva G., 38, and Ricardo C., 40, are the two people who died.
According to a DPS report, the two adults and the boy were in a 1995 GMC pickup traveling west on Texas 29 when the vehicle drove onto the wrong side of the road.
An eastbound 2019 Ford F-250 pickup towing a trailer was struck by the truck.
According to the report, the road was wet at the time of the accident.
Gonzalez died at the scene, according to the report. Canchola was taken to Round Rock’s Ascension Seton Medical Center Williamson, where he was pronounced dead.
The other driver was driven to Burnet’s Ascension Seton Highland Lakes.
The nature of that person’s injuries was not specified in the report.
Gonzalez and Canchola’s funeral and other expenses have been funded through a GoFundMe account.
There are no other details available. The crash remains under investigation.
