An 84-year-old man identified as Antonio O. died in a major traffic accident east of Interstate 35, according to New Braunfels police, on Monday, March 14, 2022.

The fatal crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of FM 725 and West Zipp Road.
The 84-year-old man was driving a pickup truck and towing a trailer when he was broadsided by a dump truck at the intersection of FM 725 and West Zipp Road, according to New Braunfels Police Department.
According to the NBPD, the impact caused the pickup to roll over onto its driver’s side.
The Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace pronounced Olvera dead on the scene.
The dump truck driver, a 62-year-old Seguin man, was unharmed in the collision, according to the NBPD.
According to investigators, a dump truck driver ran a red light on FM 725 and collided with Olvera’s pickup as it was turning onto the road from West Zipp Road.
The investigation is still ongoing, and charges may be filed, according to the NBPD.
According to the NBPD, the area around the intersection was closed for about 3 1/2 hours.
