According to the police, a North Abilene local man died in a two-vehicle car crash on North 15th Street Thursday morning, May 26, 2022.
The fatal crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of North 15th and Grape Streets.
According to the APD, a driver in a 2012 Ford Escape was traveling north down Grape Street when they collided with the side of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, which was going west on North 15th Street.
There was a single driver in the Escape and a driver and one passenger in the Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix was hit on the driver’s side as it crossed Grape Street and came to a stop in the front yard of a nearby home, according to police.
Bobby H., 36, of Abilene, the 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix driver, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 30-year-old woman in the car’s passenger seat was taken to a nearby hospital to treat non-life-threatening injuries.
The Escape’s driver also sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, according to police, and no citations have been issued.
