There is no special training for rideshare drivers, such as those for Lyft and Uber. To drive for Uber or Lyft, they don’t need any special qualifications or licenses. A standard driver’s license and a clean driving record are all they need. This means that the same problems that cause car accidents also cause Lyft and Uber crashes.
Uber was able to confirm 97 fatal crashes with 107 total deaths in 2017 and 2018, according to data from the national Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS).
