Two people identified as 78-year-old Samuel C. and 50-year-old Darrell M. were both killed in a head-on crash in Abilene on Saturday, November 20, 2021.
The fatal collision happened on a Saturday morning on Interstate 20, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Initial reports show that 78-year-old Caldwell was traveling east in his Toyota Tundra when he crashed into 50-year-old Mills traveling westbound in his Ford F-150.
The officials stated that Caldwell caused the crash when he traveled in the wrong lane.
Both vehicles stopped in the center median, with the Ford F-150 catching on fire and completely burning.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene and were both confirmed by DPS to not have worn seat belts at the time of the accident.
