One man recently identified as Fernando M. was killed after his car collided with an 18-wheeler on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
The tragic crash transpired at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Interstate 10 east at Lomaland.
According to El Paso officials, Molina died when his vehicle burst into flames after it collided with the 18-wheeler.
The semi-truck driver saw the wrong-way car approaching and attempted to move out of the way, but was unable to steer the vehicle clear in time to avoid the collision, according to investigators.
The truck driver and his passenger were reportedly uninjured.
Local authorities said Molina was probably intoxicated while driving in the wrong direction.
Molina’s toxicology test results were pending, but authorities believe he was intoxicated when driving in the wrong direction.
