Two unidentified people were sent to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a DUI driver in the Lilian area on Friday, November 12, 2021.
The collision happened around 8:21 p.m. on E. FM 917 near County Road 616 in the Lillian area, where several fire departments from Johnson County, AMR, and multiple law enforcement agencies responded.
The first responders discovered two vehicles that had sustained significant damage. According to preliminary investigation, the driver of an eastbound pickup truck clipped the back left of a westbound semi-truck, causing the pickup truck to collide head-on with an SUV following behind the semi-truck.
Firefighters extricated the driver of the pickup truck, who was taken to JPS by CareFlite air ambulance with serious injuries. At the hospital, authorities took a blood sample from the driver and are awaiting results. The 49-year-old man has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated – 2nd Offense by police.
The SUV driver and passenger were rushed to Mansfield Methodist hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries.
Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
