23-year-old Luis Arellano V. was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Camp County on Tuesday, December 7, 2021.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on Highway 271, just north of Pittsburg.
According to the preliminary crash investigation, a semi being driven by 59-year-old Edward S. was traveling north on Highway 271 in the outside lane. Velazquez was also traveling north in a vehicle at the same time.
According to DPS, Velazquez failed to control his speed and struck the semi’s trailer.
Velazquez was immediately rushed to a Pittsburg hospital, where he was eventually declared deceased. Authorities further revealed that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Salazar, on the other hand, was reportedly uninjured. Local authorities are still investigating the crash.
