One 40-year-old man identified as Ronald L. was killed in a two-vehicle crash at 50th & Avenue A on Thursday night, December 9, 2021.
The crash happened around 7:43 p.m. at 50th Street and Ave. A.
Officers were dispatched to the scene to assist a person trapped in one of the vehicles.
Ronald L., 40, was driving a Toyota Camry westbound towards the intersection, according to police. The two vehicles collided in the intersection when a Cadillac SRX driven by Juan C. was attempting to turn north onto Ave.
According to crash investigators, the Toyota rolled and collided with a signal light pole. The 40-year-old Camry driver was pronounced dead at the scene. On the other hand, his passenger, 38-year-old Kathy T., was taken to UMC with serious injuries.
The Cadillac driver was taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries.
The crash is still being investigated by the Lubbock Police Department Special Investigations team.
