The multi-vehicle pileup occurred just before 2:15 a.m. on the Northwest Side near the Wurzback exit of Interstate 10. Police reported it as a chain reaction accident.
On I-10’s main lanes, a pickup truck collided with a motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was knocked off his bike and slid onto the road’s shoulder due to the collision. In stable condition, the biker was taken to University Hospital. The driver of the pickup truck was unharmed.
The motorcycle was abandoned in the middle of the highway, and an 18-wheeler collided and dragged it down the highway. After that, the big rig caught fire. According to the police, the rig was carrying some sort of food and was completely destroyed. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed.
A hazmat team was dispatched to clean up the diesel fuel that had spilled onto the road. I-10 was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the accident.
