One 18-year-old identified as Kyana M. was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Sherman on Monday, December 20, 2021.
The fatal four-vehicle crash happened on a Monday afternoon on eastbound State Highway 56.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 18-year-old victim was waiting to turn north onto the FM-1417 Extension on eastbound State Highway 56 when she was struck from behind by an eastbound pickup truck driven by 34-year-old Christopher Bryan M., of Bells troopers.
The victim’s vehicle was pushed into the westbound lane of SH-56, where it collided with a westbound pickup and caught fire.
The 18-year-old girl was a current student at Grayson College and a Sherman High School graduate. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
In the collision, both occupants of the westbound pickup were seriously injured. 62-year-old Joann T. of Cartwright was critically injured and taken to a local hospital. Acra T. Jr., 67, of Cartwright, was a passenger who was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
The 34-year-old driver’s pickup crashed with another vehicle traveling west. In the collision, none of the drivers were hurt.
